Imaging & Histology Facility
Department of Translational Neuroscience houses an Imaging and Histology Core that includes several microscopy systems managed by Dr. Eric Wang:

- 3 cryostats (2 Leica CM1950 and ThermoFisher HM 525 NX)
- Leica Vibratome (VT12005)
- A Sigma EV500 electron microscope with a stem column for conventional SEM, serial block face SEM, thin-section based array tomography with serial-SEM imaging, conventional ultrathin-section TEM, thin-section based pre- and post- embedding immuno-EM, freeze-fracture replica immunogold labeling, and correlative light and electron microscopy.

Molecular Biology & Biochemistry Facility
The departmental Molecular Biology & Biochemistry Facility houses several centrifuges and ultracentrifuges (Eppendorf 5415, 5417R and 5415D centrifuges, Beckman J-20XP centrifuge, 2 Beckman Avanti JE centrifuges, 2 Beckman Optima L80XP ultracentrifuges), Real-time PCR system, GeneAmp PCR System 2400 Perkin Elmex, Bio-Rad Microplate reader, Beckman DU600 spectrophotometer, NanoDrop 2000 UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Bio-Rad ChemiDoc, 2 Li-Cor Odyssey Fc imager systems, Ultrasonic Processor GE130, and cell culture incubator PHCBi.

Animal Behavioral Facility
Newly created behavioral suite with a battery of behavioral tests in shielded rooms includes the following:
- 3 patented computerized recording and analysis systems for audible and ultrasonic vocalizations, consisting of 4-channel UltraVox or UltraVox XT systems (Noldus), ultrasound microphones, software, and mechanical stimulation devices for compression of somatic tissue (calibrated forceps with force transducer)
- von Frey monofilament quantitative sensory test setups and electronic von Frey anesthesiometer (IITC Life Science)
- 2 elevated plus-maze apparatus with computerized video tracking and analysis system (EthoVisionXT 11 software, Noldus Information Technology)
- 2 open-field test systems with computerized videotracking and EthoVision XT software (Noldus)
- 2 light/dark box test systems with computerized videotracking and EthoVision XT software (Noldus)
- 2 place-preference apparatus with Opto-Max computerized recording and analysis system (Columbus Instr.)
- a system with 2 digital video cameras for facial grimace chart test (Sony HD AVCHD Progressive)
- fear conditioning apparatus (Med Associates Inc.)
- forced swim test (FST) apparatus with computerized analysis system, camera and EthoVision XT software (Noldus
- five hole nose poke wall test package (Med Associates Inc.), including five unit curved nose poke wall with holes, pellet dispenser, head entry detection, and receptacle light to measure impulsivity and behavioral control
- a customized (Coulbourn Instr.) computerized automated modular behavior test system for decision-making tasks, including an octagon hub, 2 response levers and pellet feeders, runway, door, Habitest linc system connected to computer interface card, and graphic state software
- Y-maze with computerized analysis system, camera and EthoVision XT software (Noldus); Rotarod apparatus with 4 slots for testing motor activity in rodents (Harvard Apparatus). These systems are configured for rats or for mice.
