Welcome to the Life Support Education Department (LSED)

We instruct AHA Classes according to the 2015 American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum. Here are some key points to remember when attending classes:

  • All participants must come to class with the appropriate textbook for the class they are attending. The current book is will be a 2016 Edition, on the back will have symbol stating including CPR & ECC 2015 Guidelines. Books available in the UTMB Bookstore and from the AHA website through one of their approved online vendors. Electronic versions of the books are acceptable in class.
  • You must complete the pre-course assessment test with a minimum score of 70%, for all ACLS and PALS Classes. Information on pre-course assessment located in provider book. This must be completed prior to the class start.

For additional information on classes, please see review them in Course Descriptions, located in the left navigation pane.

Currently due to the high demand to support UTMB Staff and Students, we are unable to take non-UTMB registrations at this time.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Successful participation in one of these classes alone does not imply certification to perform the skills learned in the class.
