Scholarship commitments to UTMB can take many shapes
They can be targeted to students who demonstrate academic excellence or to students with financial need. They can support students who commit themselves to public service or who hail from a particular city, region, or state. Above all, they are the gift of opportunity, helping make a health education possible for some of UTMB’s most promising aspiring health care professionals.
Academic Positions and Institutional Support Endowments
Endowed academic positions can take many shapes. They can be:
- a tool to recognize outstanding researchers that can be targeted to a particular area (recent examples have focused on infectious diseases, neurological recovery, and cancer research)
- an incentive for innovations in health care education, honoring some of the most talented of the university’s teaching faculty
- a way to help spur clinical breakthroughs by recognizing faculty with expertise in a certain specialty
- a resource to support faculty from one or more of UTMB's five schools or from a particular department, center, or program.
