UTMB Aerospace Medicine Residents Visit GNL

The latest cohort of Aerospace Medicine Residency Program participants and graduate students spent a morning at the GNL on July 31, learning about the work of the lab and ways they, as physicians and aerospace/aviation professionals, can assist in the fight against infectious diseases.

Dr. Gene Olinger, Director of the GNL, provided an overview of the history and work of the lab, and Corrie Ntiforo provided a hands-on demo of personal protective equipment, along with a discussion about the importance of personnel readiness for the rigors of high containment research.

The group also took a tour of both the GNL and the Biocontainment Care Unit (BCU). The visit was part of the Occupational Medicine course offered as part of the Aerospace Medicine program.
