CBC League City Pediatrics and Adult Primary Care began a pilot program this summer to cross train Medical Assistants as Scribes. This dual role provides growth and promotion opportunities for Medical Assistants.
The Medical Assistant Scribe accompanies the provider in the exam room to scribe during the office visit. Because they are also medical assistants, the scribes can assist with hands-on patient care. Having an MA Scribe allows the provider to spend more face-to-face time with each patient without needing to complete the office visit notes after hours. Incorporating MA Scribes as part of the care team enhances the patient experience while increasing job satisfaction for providers and Medical Assistants.
Congratulations to MAs Jennifer Eernisse, Jazmine Edwards and Alicia Fitzgerald for completing the 40-hour MA Scribe course.
