A message for UTMB Health staff from Chaplain Jim George
“Give grace: to each other and to yourself. Grace means full and free forgiveness for all wrongs expecting nothing back in return. Forgive just as we have been forgiven.
And then also be kind to yourself for mistakes you have made. None of us are perfect, being genuine is enough. Take time for yourself, self-care isn’t selfish. Be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished. There’s no one else who could have done the sacred work you do, like you. You are precious and loved.”
About Jim
Jim George grew up on a tiny island in the Middle East called Bahrain. After schooling, he moved to India (the Motherland) for his higher education where he completed an advance diploma in Flight Operations Management and Dispatch. In 2015, he earned his Master of Divinity from Southern Asia Bible College.
Jim is compassionate about reaching out to and helping the less fortunate and hopeless, which is why he later worked with an NGO in India (in interventions) that was involved in identifying, rescuing and rehabilitating victims of trafficking for labor and sex slavery.
He later moved to the United States in 2018 with his one and only older sibling and stays with and takes care of his parents. Jim went on to complete three units of Clinical Pastoral Education as a resident with Houston Methodist Sugarland and an extended unit of CPE as an intern with Houston Methodist Hospital. He served as PBL chaplain at all campuses of UTMB before finally joining as a full-time staff chaplain at Galveston in June 2022.
Jim plays the keyboard and has been part of an acapella group. He enjoys listening to music, cooking with the family, road tripping and the occasional video games. He is getting married this year.
