Rajkumar Menon serves as the Process Improvement Specialist and Lean Facilitator on the System Optimization and Performance team at UTMB. He mentors and coaches staff and facilitates process improvement opportunities at UTMB’s campus hospitals and approximately 90 clinics, including UTMB’s Correctional Managed Care system, which serves two-thirds of Texas’ offenders.
Raj has an extensive background in healthcare process improvement including throughput and experience, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
Prior to joining UTMB, Raj served as assistant manager in the Hospital of the Future consulting team in Performance Solutions at GE Healthcare in Wisconsin. Prior to GE, Raj served as a dentist at EMC Hospital in Kerala, India.
Raj is a Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma. After receiving his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Bangalore University, India, and a three-year stint as a dentist, Raj has facilitated Lean Six Sigma projects at more than 30 hospitals across the United States before joining UTMB.
Fun fact: Raj is a dentist and used to fill and pluck teeth for a living, before sneaking into the engineering realm of Lean Six Sigma.
