Title: Nurse practitioner, UTMB Health Orthopedics, League City Campus

About me: I have been married for 17 years and have two boys. I’m always busy with my family and at work at UTMB Orthopedic surgery. I enjoy my work and love to help my patients who suffer from low back pain, neck pain and osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, and shoulder. Also, I care for patients with osteoporosis/osteopenia by restoring bone mass and preventing future fractures.

How long at UTMB: I have been with UTMB for 15 years. I started as a nurse clinician III, advanced to nurse clinician V and earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from UTMB. I love UTMB because it always encourages and supports everyone to succeed in their career.

Best thing about my job: Patients walk into the clinic with pain and walk out with significant relief from knee pain, low back pain and hip pain. I treat osteoarthritis with cortisone injections, hyaluronic acid injections, physical therapy and assisting with weight loss.

Most challenging thing about my job: Discussing weight loss and smoking cessation with my patients.

My favorite quote: “Slow and steady wins the race.”

My heroes: My parents and teachers; these two heroes encouraged and guided me to be the best in my life.

My life outside of work: Cooking, gardening, spending time with family and listening to gospels.

My life in six words: Practice. Perfection. Passion. Persistence, Patience. Perseverance.
