The employee voice is a very powerful tool used at the Angleton Danbury Campus, as many changes and improvements have surfaced due to employees voicing their opinions and ideas, making them a reality.
The newest idea making headlines at ADC was the recent go-live of an eight-week pilot of a service agreement with the closest Chick-fil-A—in Alvin! During the yearly “ADC Employee Voice” survey, ADC staff vocalized their desire to expand food options and even suggested the idea to buy commercial food products, such as Chick-fil-A, that are not even available in the City of Angleton.
Although this may have been presented as a dream, Administrator & ACNO Beth Reimschissel explored a creative approach outside of a traditional licensing agreement found in other hospitals to have Chick-fil-A delivered to the Bayou Café twice a week for employees and community members to purchase.
Beth surveyed the staff across the hospital and campus and received a powerful response of menu items the employees wanted to see and developed a menu for the pilot.
As expected, on day one of the pilot, the Chick-fil-A items flew off the shelves with breakfast, salads and wrap options selling out by 7 a.m.! As soon as lunch hours opened, a line formed outside of the café resembling a Black Friday sale with a line of hungry ADC employees arriving for their hot and fresh chicken sandwiches.
ADC staff and visitors can expect to see Chick-fil-A items as a regular breakfast and lunch option over the next several weeks as the ADC leadership gauges the longevity of the project.
