Dana DiMarco, CRNA
Anesthesia specialist
Galveston Campus
How long have you worked for UTMB?
Close to 33 years. I have been a CRNA for 23 years.
Why did you decide to go into anesthesiology?
I went into anesthesia because I started as a PACU nurse and worked closely with some really good and inspiring anesthesiologists. I loved what they did and found out I could go to school to be a Nurse Anesthetist.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is getting to wear PJs everyday to work! Besides that it is being a part of such a great team in the operating room here at UTMB.
The most challenging part?
The most challenging part of my job is probably being the one to roll my patient into surgery and seeing all the separation anxiety with the patient and family. I try my best to ease this transition. I have been on the other side several times with my own family.
One piece of advice or information you would like your patients to know:
Advice I would give to my patients would be that I say a prayer every morning for you and your team and thank you for trusting my watchful, diligent and caring eye while you sleep.
