"I'm an inmate on the Estelle unit. This letter is NOT a complaint. I'm writing to brag on Director Stephanie Cervantes.
"You see, I'm a 100% service-connected disabled veteran. I receive checks while incarcerated due to my disabilities. One of them is severe tinnitus and hearing loss.
"In November or early December, the unit physician referred me to ADS (Assistive Disability Services) due to severe hearing complaint and tinnitus. When I wrote a request asking when my appointment was, I was told it would be months before I would be seen.
"My wife sent one email to Mrs. Cervantes a week ago. TODAY I had an appointment with ADS . Said appointent was canceled, but it should be rescheduled soon.
"UTMB should appreciate Mrs. Cervantes and the caring nature she displays to inmates and their families. If only UTMB had more employees like her, the system would be much better."
