Why did you decide to go into burn care?
I worked as a medical assistant for UTMB Dermatology for four years. After furthering my education and starting my career as a nurse, choosing to go into burns was an easy decision given my previous experience with wound care.
What characteristics do you feel are important for someone in your role?
An important characteristic to have while caring for all patients—but especially burn patients—would be the ability to provide psychosocial support.
What has been your most meaningful accomplishment so far?
A meaningful accomplishment for me would be that I am the first in my family to go to college and obtain a degree.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
Two things I can't live without would be my daughter and son.
