Dr. Harold Pine and Regina Burdett—a force for fun!

Everyone knows about May the Fourth being “Star Wars” day, right? You know … “May the force be with you.”

But leave it to two “enterprising” (oh wait… wrong sci-fi franchise!) staffers to bring it to life at UTMB.

Ann Varghese, administrator at the Clear Lake Campus, made special mention at a recent Health System Executive Leadership meeting of Clear Lake ENT specialist Dr. Harold Pine and child life specialist Regina Burdett, who injected a little humor and fun into the 13 pediatric cases Pine tended to on May 4.

“Of course, we want to deliver excellent patient care every single time, but when you take care of kids, you want to ease their fears of being in the hospital and the OR. So, Regina did an entire setup for May the Fourth, and Dr. Pyne was in full combat with our patients.

“It's things like that that make the UTMB experience memorable,” she said, “and I just wanted to recognize them for that.”

Awesome job, Regina and Dr. Pine. We all know, “Do or do not—there is no try.” And we are so glad you did!
