Get some insight into how RL Datrix means a safer environment

When people think of "event reporting," unfortunately they only think major events like falls/medication errors or "telling on co-workers."

However, there is much more to know about event reporting withing the RL DATIX system. For example:

It is not limited to big events like falls or violent patients.

While it is important to capture falls, it is equally important to understand other events that take place within UTMB facilities such as:

  • Air Quality & Spills (Facility Issue)
  • Breach of Confidentiality (Safety / Security Issue)
  • System Communication (Healthcare IT Issue)…and much more

Tracking and trending events is the reason for event reporting.

If an event is not reported, there is no documentation that the event happened. Without documentation, there is no way to know the frequency of such events or that a change is needed.

Reporting an event allows for the routine tracking and trending of issues. For example, how often do you have to leave your unit to search for supplies? Is this a global supply chain problem? Or an on-going oversight at the local/department level? Should UTMB change vendors or evaluate local processes?

Professional conduct is a serious matter… and worth tracking.

Expecting to be treated like a professional is a reasonable expectation.

Health care professionals, like you, have worked hard to reach current professional levels and should be treated respectfully and professionally. Bad days happen, but unprofessional behavior doesn’t have to. However, if certain behaviors are never reported, they’ll never be addressed, much less corrected.
