When did you start working at UTMB and in what capacity?

I started in September of 1998 at the UTMB Childcare Center as a Childcare Specialist 1, with a phone call from my mom that said, "Get up—you have a job interview."

What attracted you to UTMB in the first place?

I have always been intrigued by the medical field, so I decided to become a CNA to test the waters. One of the matrons, Joyce Davenport, from my church suggested that I apply for the Postpartum Unit, so I did, and I loved it!

Why have you stayed at UTMB for 25 years?

I have enjoyed being a part of one of the happiest moments of people's lives. I love what I do and the relationships I have built throughout the years with some amazing people.

What would you say to someone starting out in a career at UTMB?

I would tell someone starting out at UTMB that it's a great place to work, the possibilities are endless, there is room for growth.

What does the concept of Best Care mean to you?

Best Care to me means treating everyone as a V.I.P. and as if every patient is my family.

What is your favorite quote?

"If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life!"
