University of Texas Medical Branch and Aetna re-establish network agreement

The University of Texas Medical Branch and Aetna®, a CVS Health business, have reached a multi-year agreement that brings UTMB facilities and providers in network for most Aetna health plan participants, effective immediately. This means for most Aetna members, health care services from UTMB will now be covered at the in-network benefit level and their health plans’ in-network costs will apply.

The new agreement gives Aetna members more choices for in-network hospitals and providers in Southern Harris County, Galveston County, and Southern Brazoria County.

“UTMB is pleased to welcome back patients who were unable to receive care from our physicians and facilities due to out-of-network status. We value Aetna as a health insurance partner dedicated to serving our communities,” said Kent Pickering, Vice President of Managed Care and Clinical Contracting Strategies.

“University of Texas Medical Branch is a valued partner in our efforts to serve Aetna members with access to quality, convenient, affordable care,” said Cathy Hughes, Aetna Vice President of Network, Western Region. “We look forward to working together to meet the health care needs of our shared members and patients.”

Aetna members can confirm their individual plan benefits and network by visiting the Aetna website or calling the phone number on the back of their member ID card.
