Recognizing Our Great Trainees: Naiju Thomas

Congratulations to Naiju Thomas for being accepted as a Blackstone LaunchPad® (BLP) summer fellow!

Naiju is the first student entrepreneur from the University of Texas Medical Branch to receive this prestigious fellowship. BLP is a campus-based entrepreneurship program designed to introduce entrepreneurship as a viable career path. In collaboration with Future Founders, Blackstone LaunchPad® mentors students to navigate the path of entrepreneurship.

Naiju is currently working on a startup “Connectyfi Inc.,” a web-platform that will help college students find internships or academic job opportunities around the world and also help faculty seamlessly recruit personnel to their laboratories. Naiju is also working with an incubator program “Launchpeer” based out of Charleston, South Carolina, to finish the prototyping of his product.

Naiju is a first-year PhD graduate student in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and is working under the mentorship of Dr. Guy Nir and Dr. Eric Wagner. Naiju’s research employs Hi-C sequencing technique to define the interaction between the Integrator complex and mammalian 3D genome organization. His future goal is to pursue postdoctoral training and establish his own research laboratory in the area of precision cancer medicine and translational therapeutics, as well as to continue as an entrepreneur and establish his own startup company.
Congratulations, Naiju!
