Waller County News-Citizen, Oct. 27, 2006 http://www.hcnonline.com/site/news.cfm?BRD=1574&dept_id=545245&newsid=17380976&PAG=461&rfi=9 HEMPSTEAD, Texas - Lion Agnes Sullivan, director of the Lions Eye Bank of Texas, was guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Hempstead Lions Club on Oct. 2 and was presented with the club's banner by Lion Lois Rafferty, club president. Sullivan presented a program to create Organ Donor Awareness and showed a video, "Seeing is Believing." The Lions Eye Bank of Texas is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance sight restoration by collecting and distributing donor eyes for corneal transplantation and research, primarily in Texas, but also throughout the world. Over the past decade, the Lions Eye Bank Foundation, based in Houston, has provided almost $300,000 in funding for eye-related medical research.  The program has supported research at a number of institutions including Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Houston, the University of Texas Medical Branch, the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center, and the University of Texas Health Science Center.
