UTMB’s clinical laboratory sciences program helps meet the health care needs of Texas by educating laboratory scientists, often called medical technologists. At the SHP commencement on Aug. 11, there will 41 students receiving either their bachelors or master’s degrees. “The people we educate are the ones that work in the labs processing specimens that come in from patients. They perform the tests that go back to physicians, allowing them to make decisions on how to treat patients,” said UTMB’s Vicki Freeman.
