Research conducted by UTMB’s Jeff Temple finds that parents who utilize corporal punishment as a means of discipline may be setting their children up to become violent toward future partners. “Kids who said they had experienced corporal punishment were more likely to have recently committed dating violence,” said Temple. According to the American Academy of Pediatricians Temple’s study confirms and extends previous research.
