For immediate release: May 25, 2007 GALVESTON, Texas - John C. (Chris) McKee has been named director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The OIE was created recently to help UTMB administrators examine the effectiveness of its academic, clinical and administrative components and use their findings for ongoing program improvement. The office replaces the former Office of Institutional Analysis. McKee comes to UTMB from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He holds a Ph.D. in political science and has spent most of his career in public policy and program evaluation. "The Office of Institutional Effectiveness will lead UTMB in ongoing, integrated and institution-wide program planning and evaluation," said Pamela G. Watson, chief academic officer. "It will help us all to be sure we are engaging in continuous program improvement and accomplishing the UTMB mission." "Chris McKee brings to us the skill set we need for the director position," Watson said. "In the two weeks he has been here, he is already taking us to a new level of institutional effectiveness.
