Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 05/03/06 When Miami Beach cardiologist Arthur Agatston introduced the South Beach Diet in 1995, the Florida destination became a buzzword in the dieter’s lexicon. But it’s not only dieters who abide by Agatston’s every edict on eating good carbs, good fats, nutrient-dense whole foods, lean sources of protein and plenty of fiber. Many people who simply want to maintain their present weight and lead a healthy lifestyle also take his advice. Agatston, author of “The South Beach Diet Quick & Easy Cookbook” (Rodale/ $27.95), will visit Galveston on May 15. He’ll offer a seminar on “The End of the Diet Debate.” The presentation is part of National Women’s Health Week and is sponsored by the University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women’s Health.
