Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 06/28/06 Letter to the Editor: In regard to the story, “Couple protests decision on health care” (The Daily News, June 17): I had stage-3 lung cancer, but my experience was one of utmost care and concern for me and my family. Like Elton Glaze, I had no insurance, but, when I was told about the cancer, my doctors told me that they would treat it — then we would talk about payment. I’m proud to say I’m four years out and no cancer when they told me there was no need for me to come back and that the ward was for sick people. That was the greatest news my family and I could hear. I thank the University of Texas Medical Branch for my care every day. Without them, I would not be here. UTMB does care. There are so many of us that need the medical branch. Thanks again UTMB oncology and staff.
