Houston Chronicle (Internet / Print) 03/03/06 http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/3697114.html After Claire Hulsebosch's brothers suffered devastating injuries, it became her mission in life to explore new medical territory. Flash forward almost 40 years. It's a Sunday afternoon in August 2004, and Hulsebosch is at home, resting from the rigors of the week. She's a scientist and professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and her specialty is spinal cord and brain injuries. Aside from her husband and two children, her work is her passion. Hulsebosch is one of the founders and the new director of Mission Connect, a group of local scientists and clinicians pushing the treatment frontier for spinal cord and brain injury and stroke patients. Recently she made time to answer questions from Chronicle writer Claudia Feldman about work and family.
