Settings

Settings are Wimba's way of allowing you to make generalizations about the entire document. This gives your document a uniform look and feel no matter if you have 2 pages or 200 pages! It's also a great way to make a series of documents look like one big project.

Open 'Settings' from the 'WimbaCreate tab' on the Word toolbar.

General

On the General tab you can edit the page root name, and the footer. These explain themselves on the screen itself.

Schemes

You can also choose from a variety of schemes. This changes the fonts and colors over all of the web-pages. Not now, but when you have a chance, we suggest you play with a few of these. You will have to generate the learning object to see the effect of this change.

How'd we do this?
The pages you are looking at now were created using the English - US standard scheme.

Navigation

Before you move on, take a look at the Navigation tab as well.

This tab allows you to make some decisions on how things look as you navigate the pages. It has three sections:

  • Navigation. This section deals with navigation itself. Do you want a navigation column on each page? Do you want buttons on each screen?
  • Sections and Pages. This section allows you to determine how you want to use Sections and Pages.
  • Hyperlinks and Popups. The last section gives you control about how you want hyperlinks and pop-ups to open.

How'd we do this?
The pages you are looking at now were created by checking the boxes to generate the index page, show navigation buttons and columns. We chose to display Sections and only the pages of the open section. We like our pop-ups and external links to open in new pages. This is exactly like what you see in the Screen shot example.

Other Tabs

For now, you can ignore these tabs: Content, SCORM, and Assessment.
