Giving Thanks: Good Things and SECC 2019

Nov 22, 2019, 08:56 AM by Jessica Wyble

Dr. Vicente Resto, SECC Chair 2019In these final days of the State Employee Charitable Campaign, I am grateful for the support that’s been provided by the UTMB community, humbled by people’s generosity and goodwill, and thankful to be at a place where so many people care.

More than 2,000 UTMB team members from all campuses and many far-flung UTMB locations have already pledged more than $467,000 to the SECC, putting us within reach of our $500,000 goal.

While the goal is just a number, the dollars make a difference in people’s lives. The dollars help those in need, those who are hungry, homeless, alone or in trouble. They support community initiatives, shelter those at risk, bolster education, champion important causes and help make our world safer and better.

SECC provides an easy way to support something that is important to you. A contribution of any amount is welcome and appreciated. However, time is running out; the campaign is set to conclude on Nov. 27.

If you’ve not already, please consider making your pledge today.

With heartfelt thanks and best wishes for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

Vicente Resto, MD, PhD, FACS
Associate Chief Physician Executive
Vice President for Physician Integration and Strategic Alignment
Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology
2019 SECC Chair
