The team at the Angleton Danbury Campus has another accomplishment to celebrate this year (in addition to their five year anniversary as part of UTMB Health): they won the SECC Vanguard Cup, which was presented by Dr. Vicente Resto, Associate Chief Physician, Executive Vice President for Physician Integration and Strategic Alignment, and Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology. Resto also served as 2019 SECC chairman, and presented the trophy Dec. 11 in Angleton during a festive award ceremony. It will reside in Angleton until next year, when the contest resumes.
In a heartfelt acceptance, Beth Reimschissel MSN, RN, CNL, Administrator for the Angleton Danbury Campus and Associate Chief Nursing & Patient Care Services Officer, spoke of her appreciation for the Angleton Danbury team, of their generous hearts and close connection to the community. An inspiration and highlight of the campaign for her, she said, was listening to the stories from fellow employees of the ways various charities and causes had personal meaning in their lives.
"We have no intention of letting this trophy go anywhere next year," she challenged the enthusiastic group in attendance.
The State Employee Charitable Campaign wrapped up on Dec. 2 and raised more than $529,000. About 2,500 UTMB employees (about 19% of our workforce) supported the good work of local, state, national and international charities. With a participation rate of 37%, the team at the Angleton Danbury Campus had the highest participation rate of any single university entity, earning the Vanguard Cup for their organization-leading performance in charitable giving.
