The SECC 2020 Bare Bones Campaign is live!

Dear Members of the UTMB Community,

We’re living through some challenging times: pandemic, hurricanes and forest fires, economic uncertainty, political turmoil and civil unrest, closed schools and struggling businesses, layoffs, disruptions. We realize life isn’t “normal.”

It’s time for our annual UTMB State Employee Charitable Campaign, and we didn’t feel our usual approach would be appropriate. We know many families are struggling. We recognize that anxiety and fatigue are widespread. However, we also recognize 2020 is creating urgent and new needs in our communities, and for those willing/able to help, the SECC is a simple way to make a meaningful difference.

We’ve adopted a “bare bones” theme to align with our 2020 approach. We will not have a campaign chair. There will be no pressure and no goal. The official campaign will only run two weeks, ending at Halloween. A small group of volunteers will manage the effort.

We’re optimistic and hopeful that many of us will recognize the importance of giving back and the value of these efforts, and will help us help others. Our university community has a charitable spirit and a legendary tradition of sharing; last year we again raised more than any public university or agency in the state.  Thanks to some wonderful people and their early pledges, we’re already off to a great start.

The 2020 charities are online, and the campaign site is live. It’s easy to review and select what you’ve done in the past. Please pledge today.

Thank you for your consideration and generosity,
The 2020 Bare Bones Campaign Skeleton Crew & SECC Volunteers
