The John Sealy School of Medicine is pleased to recognize Dr. Michael Silva, who has been elected by his colleagues to serve on two important faculty governance committees. Election to these committees reflects the confidence and trust of faculty peers and represents a meaningful commitment to advancing the School of Medicine's academic mission and shared governance.

Dr. Silva has been elected to the Academic Planning and Policy Committee (APPC) for a three-year term from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029. The APPC plays a vital role in supporting the academic mission of the John Sealy School of Medicine. In accordance with the JSSOM Bylaws, the committee reviews and recommends changes to academic policies, participates in strategic planning related to the educational, clinical, and research missions of the School of Medicine, coordinates efforts among standing committees, and provides faculty input on key academic matters affecting the institution.

In addition, Dr. Silva has been elected to the Nominating Committee for a two-year term from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. The committee supports faculty governance by identifying and nominating qualified faculty candidates for elected positions on standing committees and for Faculty Senate representation. Its work helps ensure broad faculty participation and balanced representation in the governance of the John Sealy School of Medicine.

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Silva on these well-deserved appointments!
