UTMB Institutional Biorepository

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), with financial support from the Sealy and Smith Foundation, established the UTMB Institutional Biorepository to support translational, clinical and basic science research. In addition, the UTMB Biobank, Research Histology Lab and Research Electron Microscopy Lab serve as specimen resource centers for all UTMB and external investigators.

What's Happening NOW

New! FY25 Fee Schedule Updates

With the turn of each new fiscal year - we look back at the costs for our technician time and supplies to make sure we come as close to 'cost recovery' as we can. Typically this results in a 4% increase in charges that is passed on to the researchers. Please find our updated FY25 Fee Schedules below...these schedules will take effect starting October 1st. If you have any questions or concerns - we are here to help!

COVID-19 SPECIMENS:

We now have COVID-19 positive specimens that include the following specimen types:

  • Buffy Coat
  • Nasal
  • Nasopharyngeal/Oropharyngeal swabs
  • Plasma
  • Serum
  • Sputum
  • Stool
  • Urine
  • Whole Blood
