About Our Program

We have been passionate for fellow education–for the last 130 years. Our first medical school building–"Old Red" was opened for medical education in 1891 immediately after the opening of John Sealy Hospital in 1890. We believe that one of our most important duties is to educate, train, and mentor future cardiologists.

We invite you to learn more about us through the web site. We hope that you will eventually decide to join us to learn, be mentored, professionally grow, and prepare yourself for the exciting future as competent cardiologists.

Visit our GME website for more information regarding Graduate Medical Education (GME), all programs offered at UTMB, application information, resident salary, and other helpful resources.

We have a highly systematic and interactive educational system to develop fellows as competent cardiologists. The appropriate balance between didactic learning and direct patient care is maintained as Sir William Osler said, "He who studies medicine without books sails an uncharted sea, but he who studies medicine without patients does not go to sea at all."
