Psychiatry Education Travel Fund

Apr 1, 2024, 08:39 AM by COEPAR

A new funding opportunity is available for students who are presenting scholarly activity in the field of psychiatry. Please see details below on the Psychiatry Education Travel Fund. Please contact Dr. Michael Miller or Dr. Paymon Mosavi for any questions.

Eligibility criteria, qualities we are seeking: UTMB medical students presenting on a topic with mental health as primary focus, at a recognized, relevant professional organization; one award per project to assist the most groups possible with funding (e.g. three students presenting a poster would be eligible for one award)

How much funding per student the award would be: as funding allows and based in consideration of average hotel costs and expected travel costs: set at $200 for 350 mile radius from Houston (where students would be expected to travel out of for an out-of-state conference) - would include Texas triangle and Louisiana; $300 for anything outside that; this amount may be decreased depending on available funds.

Application form, related materials we would request, and where to send with proof of acceptance and proof of attendance: (i.e., confirmation of flight ticket payment, hotel payment, conference registration paid, etc.), sent to committee chair (Dr. Mosavi) at least two weeks prior to date of conference start, to be awarded after return and proof of attendance from previous materials.

How often committee will meet to review: ad hoc by quorum for quicker response rate

Also: for students applying for other awards, please note these are not dedicated departmental funds, but rather donation-based.
