Fellowship Programs
CTD T32 Training Program
We offer an NIH-funded T32 program for Physician Scientist Training in Emerging Infectious Diseases, led by Dr. Peter Melby and Dr. Paessler. This two-year intensive research program provides world-class training within UTMB’s renowned community of infectious disease experts and initiatives, including One Health, SPECTRE, and the Center for Tropical Diseases. T32 trainees receive focused mentorship, preparing them to secure NIH-funded Physician Scientist Career Development (K) Awards upon completion.
Colombia–US Fogarty Training Program
We offer an NIH Fogarty-funded research training program focused on emerging zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, co-led by Dr. Patricia Aguilar (UTMB) and Dr. Juan Rodas (Universidad de Antioquia). This program supports advanced training for Colombian faculty, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers through joint initiatives across institutions in the US and Colombia. Trainees gain hands-on experience in diagnostics, epidemiology, and public health preparedness within an international collaborative framework. The program emphasizes capacity-building, with the goal of developing sustainable research networks and improving regional responses to infectious disease threats.
