Subject: Weather Advisory Update: Tropical Storm Watch and Potential High Winds
Current Status: Normal Operations
UTMB continues to monitor a weather system affecting Southeast Texas. The National Weather Service has now placed portions of the region, including Galveston Island, under a Tropical Storm Watch.
The risk of heavy rainfall and flooding remains until Thursday morning. Winds may increase across Galveston Island tomorrow morning into the early afternoon, which could affect travel conditions at times, particularly on bridges and elevated roadways.
Employees are encouraged to use caution when commuting, allow extra travel time, and make safe travel decisions. If you are unable to travel to work safely, contact your supervisor.
Currently, UTMB locations remain open and operating under normal conditions.
Important: Receiving UTMB Weather Updates
UTMB global emails are one of the primary ways important information is shared during weather events, including operational updates, announcements, and time-sensitive alerts.
Employees enrolled in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program can receive these communications directly on their personal mobile devices.
Employees who choose not to enroll in BYOD are responsible for staying informed and monitoring official UTMB communication channels for updates regarding operations, closures, delays, staffing assignments, ride-out responsibilities, reporting instructions, and other weather-related information. Employees are expected to remain aware of and comply with any job-related duties or operational requirements communicated through these channels.
