Dept. of Internal Medicine Chief Residents reunion

More than 120 practitioners attended the Department of Internal Medicine’s 24th Annual Essentials in Internal Medicine: Update on Principles and Practice Alumni Society meeting at Moody Gardens Hotel on April 10-11.

A wide array of topics was addressed, including the presentation of the William P. Deiss Jr. Lecture given by Dr. Bob Couch, an adjunct professor of medicine at UTMB and professor emeritus from Baylor College of Medicine. Couch presented a lecture titled “Influenza and Other Acute Viral Respiratory Illnesses."

The Department of Internal Medicine held its annual Alumni Society Dinner at Gaido’s, a restaurant in Galveston. Dr. James Lindley, UTMB clinical professor, was honored by the society. The alumni society also held a Chief Residents Reunion with 27 of its chief residents attending. The chief residents present dated back to 1961-1962. At the dinner, Dr. Randy Urban, chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, presented the alumni an update on the department‘s educational, clinical, research and development activities.
