  • Is a secondary application required?
  • The UTMB MD-PhD Program does not require a secondary application. However, applicants who advance after initial review will be contacted to complete a short form regarding their specific interests at UTMB.
  • Is a separate application required for applicants interested in the MD program?
  • Yes. All applicants interested in the MD-PhD program must apply via the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). All applicants interested in the MD-only program must apply online with the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS). Please visit the UMTB School of Medicine admissions website for further information. Applicants interested in applying for both MD-PhD and MD-only programs must submit both AMCAS and TMDSAS applications. 
  • Are applications from international students considered?
  • Only applicants who are permanent US residents or American citizens will be considered for interview and admission.
  • Do MD-PhD students receive financial support?
  • MD-PhD students receive an annual stipend of $28,000 (current level as of the 2015-2016 academic year) contingent upon the student's satisfactory progress. The stipend will increase to $29,000 per year effective September 1, 2017. Students accepted into the MD-PhD Program receive full support for both medical school and graduate school tuition and also receive health insurance.
