  • Do I need to complete the TMDSAS Application and the AMCAS Application if I am applying to the MD-PhD program only.
  • Yes, the TMDSAS must be completed in order to receive full consideration. This is in addition to the AMCAS application and the CASPer.
  • Is a Secondary Application Required?
    The UTMB MD-PhD Program does not require a secondary application. However, applicants are asked to complete an Supplemental Application via their AMCAS/WebAdMIT portal, which will be opened periodically during the application season. The Supplemental Application is a personal statement as well as a statement regarding the specific interest in the MD/PhD program. We also ask that applicants answers questions regarding programs of interest and publications.
  • Is a Separate Application Required for Applicants Interested in the MD Program?
  • Yes. All applicants interested in the MD-PhD program must apply via the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). All applicants interested in the MD-only program must apply online with the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS). Applicants interested in applying for both MD-PhD and MD-only programs must submit both AMCAS and TMDSAS applications. 
  • Are applications from international students considered?
  • Only applicants who are permanent US residents or American citizens will be considered for interview and admission.
  • What is the AMCAS application deadline?
  • November 1st
  • Do MD-PhD students receive financial support?
  • MD-PhD students receive an annual salary of $35,360 contingent upon the student's satisfactory progress. Students accepted into the MD-PhD Program receive full support for both medical school and graduate school tuition and also receive health insurance.
