About Me

Heather Stevenson-Lerner, MD, PhD, FCAP, is a tenured Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where she serves as Director of the John Sealy Diagnostic Center, Co-Director of the MD/PhD Program, Director of the CTSA K12 Program, and Director of Liver and Transplantation Pathology. Her clinical expertise focuses on hepatobiliary and transplantation pathology, and she leads a multidisciplinary Liver Diseases Diagnostic Management Team dedicated to improving patient care through collaborative, evidence-based decision-making. Dr. Stevenson-Lerner also directs an NIH R01-funded translational research laboratory that integrates spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, artificial intelligence, and digital pathology to advance the diagnosis, risk prediction, and treatment of chronic liver and kidney diseases.
