In recognition of his many research and service contributions he was recently designated as an Honorary Member of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico. In receiving this honor, Doug stated that he “was deeply humbled and honored, and extends his sincere appreciation and deepest gratitude to the Board of Directors and other members of the Academy, and my dear friends and esteemed colleagues in Mexico for making this extraordinary honor possible.” “This recognition represents both a personal and professional milestone that I will forever cherish. I remain indebted to my family, friends, mentors, and colleagues for their unwavering support throughout my professional journey.” “A special heartfelt thanks goes to my UTMB friends and colleagues who gave me the opportunity to transition from my role as biomedical researcher in the Department of Defense into continuing my research career as a member of the academic community.” Congratulations are due Dr. Watts for this important and most fitting recognition of his research career!
