Becky Korenek, MHA, MBA, serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Business & Strategy Officer for the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where she is responsible for advancing the institution’s strategic priorities, fostering key partnerships, and driving growth initiatives across its academic, clinical, research, and public service missions.
As a member of UTMB’s executive leadership team, she works closely with the President and senior leaders to identify and implement opportunities that strengthen the institution’s financial performance, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability. Her areas of responsibility include enterprise strategy, business development, managed care and payer relations, patient access, institutional marketing and communications, public relations, community engagement, and organizational compliance.
Prior to joining UTMB in 2013, Korenek founded and led a healthcare consulting firm that provided managed care, business development, and revenue cycle consulting services to physician organizations, hospital systems, and health plans. Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions with Houston Methodist Health Care System, including executive roles in health plan management.
Ms. Korenek earned a bachelor’s in communications from Texas A&M University and master's degrees in healthcare and business administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
