Kara Gilbert

Kara Gilbert joined the Provost’s Office in October 2023 as a Coordinator I within Provider Enrollment. 

Kara has over 20 years of experience in healthcare across multiple hospital systems and departments. Before joining the Provost’s Office in 2023, she was with HCA between Emergency Department Registration and Centralized Scheduling from 2001 to 2007.  She then joined UTMB in 2008 as an Outpatient Service Associate with Dermatology and then transitioned to a Patient Service Specialist II with Friendswood Pediatric and Adult Clinic, where she worked for 15 years. 

Kara holds an Associate of Arts in Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources. She also just completed the Medical Billing and Coding program through the University of Wisconsin and is a Certified Professional Coder Apprentice.  She married her high school sweetheart in 2007 and they have one daughter. 

When she is not supporting the Provider Enrollment team, Kara enjoys walking around Galveston or watching movies with her husband and daughter, and cross stitching.
