Marissa McQuitty began working for UTMB in the Office of the Provost in 2021. She has worked in Faculty Recruitment on several academic leadership searches, such as the search for the Dean, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; the Chair, Otolaryngology; the VP, Interprofessional Education and the Health Education Center; the Chief Physician Executive; the Administrator for Surgery, Anesthesiology and Dermatology; the Chair, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; and the Dean, School of Public and Population Health. With a background in human resources, her experience is not limited to recruitment. She has experience in project management, training and development, onboarding, policy creation, process improvement, employee relations, compensation management, benefits administration, and more.  

Prior to working at UTMB, she worked in human resources for an architectural and engineering firm – Leo A Daly and Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. in Houston, Texas. Here she participated in recruitment efforts, leading groups through benefit enrollment options, facilitating new hire orientation, among other duties. She also worked at UT Physicians in Houston training individuals at each clinic on the EHR to become subject matter experts at their various clinics of work.  

She attended Texas A&M University at College Station and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in telecommunication and media studies and a Master of Science in human resource development. Additionally, she holds a certification in the Society of Human Resource Management as a Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Outside of work and education, her hobbies are spending time with her husband, dogs, family and friends, as well as exercising, reading and going to the beach.
