Robert Trieu serves as the Associate Vice President of Faculty Group Practice Business Development and Clinical Operations, supporting the growth of UTMB’s clinical enterprise through strategy, operations, marketing and analytics throughout its four-campus system spread across three counties.

Robert has over 15 years of experience in academic medicine. Prior to UTMB, he was Director of Clinical Affairs at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he developed relationships and programs across Harris Health System, Texas Children’s Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and CHI St. Luke’s Health System. These projects included greenfield facility development, developing system clinical integration, strategic planning for the Baylor Medicine physician practice and leading project management for Houston Business Journal’s 2015 Healthcare Deal of the Year, the $300M+ Joint Venture deal to create Baylor Miraca Genetics. Robert also has provided interim leadership and management during transition periods in specialty areas such as Surgery, Anesthesiology, Radiation Oncology, Dermatology and Pathology.

He credits his success to learning from and developing relationships with stakeholders through being hand-on in shared endeavors and projects. Great mentorship has also had a tremendous impact and Robert has proudly served as a preceptor and/or mentored to many graduate students. Robert earned his Bachelor of Science double majoring in chemistry and molecular and cellular biology from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and his Master of Public Health in healthcare management from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
