Sam Oommen

Software Systems Specialist III

Sam Oommen joined Provost's Office in August 2022. In his role, he works with the Business and Academic Solutions (Power/myPower) team.

Sam is a dynamic enterprise application developer with more than two decades of experience in designing, developing, integrating, deploying, maintaining web applications and backend systems along with comprehensive analytical skills in data crunching.

Before joining UTMB, Sam acquired extensive experience collaborating with various institutions in the fields of finance, academia, and healthcare, including ABN Amro Bank (Japan), Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and Kelsey Seybold. Sam joined UTMB in December 2015 and worked for the Office of Academic Affairs in the School of Medicine and the Human Resources Department.

Sam holds a master’s degree in computer science from Calicut University, India and bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of Kerala, India. Outside of professional responsibilities, Sam enjoys playing keyboard at church.
