Mr. Scott Hermstein is the Associate Vice President, Clinical Business and Value Attainment, Academic Enterprise at The University of Texas Medical Branch.  He reports to the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for the Academic Enterprise and works with the executive and senior leadership of the Provost’s Office, UTMB schools and the Faculty Group Practice, as well as other Academic Enterprise leaders focusing on business transactions and contract management.  

Mr. Hermstein is a health care executive and Texas-licensed attorney with broad-based health care industry knowledge and experience.  He provides advanced professional contract, risk mitigation and business transaction guidance, support and assistance to all schools, Faculty Group Practice and UTMB departments in the Academic Enterprise and is responsible for the regulatory, risk mitigation and operations of the Faculty Group Practice Bylaws.  

Mr. Hermstein has over 25 years of professional health care administration experience, including progressive management and leadership positions acquired in a large, complex health care system.  A demonstrated lifelong learner, he completed a law degree while working full time and previously completed Master of Science in health care administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in finance degrees.   

Mr. Hermstein is married (Jennifer) and has three sons (Logan, Preston and Grant).  He had the opportunity to live in and experience different cultures in the United States and Europe from growing up in a career military family, with the majority of his childhood years in Europe.  He served in the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of Desert Storm.
