Pepper Center Scholar Huiwen Xu, PhD, and colleagues recently published an article in JAMA, "An Unsupervised Machine Learning Approach to Evaluating the Association of Symptom Clusters With Adverse Outcomes Among Older Adults With Advanced Cancer A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial.

It has been discussed in the media at healio.com, MedPage Today, and other outlets. "In the long run, we hope to examine whether providing a machine learning-based tool can modify clinical decisions and eventually improve outcomes," said Dr. Xu.
