Important Updates about Placing Gas Orders

At the beginning of FY21, UTMB executed a new Linde/Praxair contract that made Linde/Praxair the sole distributor of gases across all UTMB campuses. 

Please do NOT order gases from other vendors.

Linde/Praxair has implemented a Site Gas Service Program on the Galveston campus.  Three Site Gas Technicians are available during regular business hours to service the campus for all atmospheric gas products.  Carlos Soto (Supervisor), Jason Smith, and Brandon Moore currently reside at the Linde/Praxair On-Site Branch located at the Materials Management Warehouse. Please reach out to them for all your gas needs.

How to Place Orders

As we continue with this transformation, we ask you to place all gas orders using the Linde/Praxair punchout on the Marketplace website.

Please do not create orders for other vendors as we are returning the tanks and terminating all deliveries from any vendor other than Linde/Praxair.

Fee Structure

Starting May 2021, you are no longer charged the cylinder demurrage fee that was previously posted to the Service Center. 

Instead, you will be billed a monthly fee that covers on-site licensed technicians, their service fee, delivery fee, and cylinder demurrage fee. The cost will be proportionately distributed between all departments that ordered gases within the month and will vary depending on the quantity and/or price of received gases. You should be seeing the first charge in June.  This charge will cover services received in the previous month.  We advise budgeting for this in FY22.
