Several SOM Students Along with Faculty Presented at a Burn Meeting

Several School of Medicine students alongside Dr. Amina El Ayadi, Dr. Juquan Song, and Dr. Steven Wolf presented poster and podium research projects at the American Burn Association (ABA) Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. They are: 

Podium: 

1. Dalton Amador, HIV Infection Increases Risk of Sepsis and Other Complications in Burn Patients 

2. Sunskruthi Krishna, The Relationship Between Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and the Severity of Burn Injury 

3. Yash Ramgop, Postprocedural Outcomes of Propofol-Ketamine and Sole Propofol Use in Burn Patients 

4. Isabel Obias, Hypothyroidism Associated with Increased Risk of Developing Contractures and Skin Disorders in Severe Burn Patients 

5. Shuhaib Shah, Genital Burns Are Associated with Worse Psychosocial and Physical Outcomes 

Poster: 

1. Mathilda Nicot-Cartsonis, C. difficile Enterocolitis Diagnosis Elevated in Critically Ill Burn Patients Following Antibiotic Treatment 

2. Carolina Segura, Elevated Cardiac Troponin I level Correlates with Cardiac Dysfunction in Severely Burned Patient  

3. Christopher G Richter, Early Interprofessional Integration Improves Burn Patient Outcomes – a Nationwide Study of Physical Therapy for Patients ≤30% TBSA

“It was exciting to present my novel findings about C. difficile infections in critically ill burn patients at ABA in Chicago.
