Residents seeking fellowships or sub-specialty residencies will occasionally need to be absent for interviews. A maximum of six days total during residency can be used for interview absences. Vacation time will be used for absences exceeding six days. If all vacation time has been used, then permission must be obtained from the Surgery Residency Review Committee and appropriate coverage must be arranged. Interviews must be registered with the Resident Office and with Dr. Townsend's office no later than one month prior to the interview. Any conflicts with simultaneous vacations or absences by other residents on the service should be avoided.
