The STSA Scholarship Committee has selected UTMB General Surgery Resident Cynthia Kassab, MD as one of two recipients of this 2022 scholarship among many national and international applicants.

When a patient is diagnosed with lung cancer, a multidisciplinary team approach is necessary to determine the best path forward – whether the patient needs radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, or a combination of these treatments.

Gal Levy, MD, a surgeon in UTMB’s Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, has seen terrific success with the LINX Reflux Management System, which uses a magnetic augmentation device that acts as a reflux barrier. She says the vast majority of patients treated with LINX experience instant relief.
