As the Division of Urology strives to make an impact in mainland areas across UTMB’s service region, a recent addition to the team is also helping strengthen its presence on Galveston Island.

Erick Ditmars (MS4) and Dr. William Fagg’s article, “Amniotic Membrane Resolves Treatment-Resistant Chronic Wounds: Evidence from a Multi-Center Retrospective Study Journal of Wound Care,” was accepted by the Journal of Wound Care.

Karen Pereira Larissa de Castro, PhD (Postdoctoral Associate) presented her study: “An Ancient Competition Between Two Branchpoint Binding Proteins Influences Physiological and Evolutionary Outcomes in Splicing” at Baylor College of Medicine’s RNA Club.

Dr. Trine Engebretsen, Dr. Michael Kueht, and third year medical student John Johnson authored “Donor Hepatitis C status is not associated with an increased risk of acute rejection in kidney transplantation” in the journal Surgery in Practice and Science.
